This very cool Dragon Cake was created by Cake Artist Halliegh Marston. She is a 24 year old college student in Michigan studying Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. She has been involved in cake decorating for about 2 years, she got started when her sister got engaged and she volunteered to make the cake for the bridal shower. Her passion for cake decorating grew from there, she even made her sister's wedding cake. The cakes that she enjoys creating most are 3D carved cakes because that is where she really feels that is where she can be most creative. She also loves to sculpt gumpaste flowers and Halliegh is constantly amazed at the things that can be created with sugar. "I really enjoy learning new techniques and building cakes that make people say "wow". I hope one day to open a bakery."
Halliegh has no formal training instead everything that she know has been learned from trial and error, books, dvds, and online tutorials/videos.
"I think cake decorating is the ultimate art form. Not only can cakes be aesthetically pleasing but they smell good and they taste good.
This Dragon is my baby dragon cake. He is was made with devils food chocolate cake and vanilla buttercream. His head, legs and tail are hand sculpted with rice krispie treats. He is covered in yellow fondant with orange airbrushing highlights. She then used a measuring spoon to create the effect of scales.
